ABOUT THE CREATEUR, LARRY SANDS
Createur Larry D. Sands is no stranger to hyper luxury. To state that he is a trendsetter in the optical fashion world would be a vast understatement. With a legacy spanning over 60 years of success, he has become legendary, having helped shape, create and execute an incredibly wide range of eyewear pieces and collections for leading fashion houses and brands—®Chrome Hearts, ®Matsuda,®Kieselstein-Cord, ®Shamballa Eyewear, ®Paradis Collection, and the ®Optical Shop of Aspen retail dynasty.
This industry vanguard shows absolutely no signs of slowing down, and at 84 years of age, his refusal to boundaries and desire to create is stronger than ever. “When I got the call from BUGATTI, I was a little surprised, but to beapproached by the world’s most powerful and luxurious auto manufacturer, to create their eyewear, was an honor.”
Wiebke Ståhl, Managing Director of BUGATTI International, added: “The decision to partner with such an auspicious, revered and experienced artist as Larry Sands is testament to our shared design ideals and vision for outstanding quality to achieve truly iconic products.
The creative synthesis between Larry and BUGATTI to create eyewear that stands true to Ettore’s vision–“If comparable, it isno longer BUGATTI”–harnesses the alchemy that can be brought to the fore when two pioneering visionaries work together.
ABOUT THE BUGATTI LEGACY:
BUGATTI has been at the pinnacle of the automotive industry for over 110 years, creating the world’s mostpowerful and luxurious automobiles from its home in Molsheim, France. Every car crafted since the company was founded by Ettore Bugatti in 1909 is praised for its comfort, drivability, design, technology and reliability and desired by automotive connoisseurs from around the world.
In the 1920s the French brand became known for its racing successes with the flagship models Type 13 and Type 35 as well as their elegant touring cars, the Type 41 Royale and the Type 57 SC Atlantic, which have become expensive classic cars in the world. Following Ettore and his son Jean Bugatti, the brand was revived by Romano Artioli in the 1980s. His creation, the EB110, introduced a number of innovations that set new benchmarks for sports car performance, including a quad-turbocharged engine, carbon fiber monocoque and advanced four-wheeldrive system.
In the early 2000s, BUGATTI created an entirely new segment: the hyper sports car, with the introduction of the VEYRON 16.4, becoming the first production model to break through 1,000 PS and 400 km/h. In 2016, the CHIRON once again redefined speed and usability becoming the fiirst production model to break the 300mph barrier. The legendary W16 engine is also at the heart of highly exclusive coach built models: the DIVO, LA VOITURE NOIRE, CENTODIECI, BOLIDE and W16 MISTRAL.
