Mido 2025: Ten Thousand Dollars Up for Grabs for the Cereda Prize

Ingrid DoddJanuary 16, 20252 min read

Ten, out of twenty-six candidates, are the works selected for the first edition of the competition that bears the name of the famous eyewear designer, who passed away last April: the award will be presented during the Milanese fair, scheduled at Fieramilano Rho from 8 to 10 February

The Cereda Award (in the main photo, the logo) makes its debut at Mido 2025, an award intended for young people under 30 enrolled or recently graduated in Italy as eyewear designers. Twenty-six projects are in the competition, ten of which were chosen by Sergio Cereda’s family (in the photo below) to be included in the top 10. The jury is currently working to select who will win the final prize of ten thousand dollars.

Mido 2025 will therefore be the stage for the competition’s debut. On this occasion, the young candidates will be able to discuss the theme “Eyewear in its purest form: balance between proportion and harmony, innovation and disruption”.

The award will be presented on Saturday 8 February at 5 pm, at the Fashion Square of Pavilion 1, by Harvey Ross, coordinator of the initiative and CEO of the Optyx Retail Group, as well as founder of HMR Holdings, in collaboration with the Cereda family and the organisers of the trade fair: the winner will be the one who manages to demonstrate a deep understanding of styles and models, balancing innovation and creativity.
